A fifteen millilitre amber glass bottle of vitamin D3 in extra virgin olive oil, delivering 25 micrograms — a thousand international units — in a single drop. It exists for the two groups capsules do not serve: children, whose doses are smaller and change as they grow, and adults who cannot or will not swallow a capsule. A drop goes onto a spoon, into yoghurt, or straight onto the tongue; it does not need to be measured into water and it should not be dripped into a hot drink, because heat and light are the two things that degrade it. Keep the bottle closed, out of the sun, and in a cupboard rather than a windowsill.
